I was surprised that it was actually quite firm and thick. I put it on top of a plywood sheet and it feels fine, but it's possible that if put on springs or slats they could be felt through it which is something to keep in mind. The microfiber material feels nice but I also put a fitted sheet on top because the micro fiber itself can't be removed and washed. I've used it for two months and it does seem that it gets imprints if you sleep in the same position night after night. My solution is to sleep on it sideways sometimes, but that might not cut it for most people. Right now it's not too bad and could just partly be explained to natural compression, but I can imagine it won't last years and years. One thing I don't understand is that I bought it for ~$130, and right after the price went up $100 on the amazon page. It could be due to... It is not a standard 60x80 mattress. It does fit the queen sized wooden futon frame that I purchased for it so perhaps this is a "futon queen." It is passably comfortable and microfiber chocolate fabric is soft and an attractive color. I am dissapointed that the thread that was used to "lace tuft" this mattress is a white cotton. The mattress is covered with one inch wide WHITE stitches!!! It is ugly and you can only tell in the picture that it is white if you zoom in--- a lot. I will probably go over the white with a brown permanant marker to make the thread blend. But seriously Serta, what is the point of using microfiber if you are going to use white thread to finish it?? It would be good if laying on a flat surface. However my futon has bars that run as a frame, and I feel them all when I sit on it. As soon as I opened the box the smell took over everything! I picked the free shipping option that would have it get here in 8-10 days. I got it in 4 days. The only real pro for this item. I feel like buying the 10" one would be way better. It may not have the Serta name or look. but i'm sure it would be nice to sit/lay on. |
