I have tried many different electric blankets and throws, and haven't really liked any of them, but Soft Heat really stands up to their reputation. Their products are a little more expensive, but they are well worth the extra cost. This blanket actually gets hot. In fact, I can't have it above a 5 or it is way too warm. All the other electric blankets I've tried don't get warm enough, even if I put them on high. The wires are so thin, you don't even know they are there. My dog chewed up my last blanket by pulling the wires out of it. She doesn't pay any attention to the wires in this one. All in all I LOVE this throw. In fact, I just ordered an electric mattress pad by Soft Heat. I thought I'd try a mattress pad instead of an electric blanket. At ten settings I was worried it wouldn't get warm enough for me but I'm finding I need to lower it anywhere between 5-8 before going to sleep or I wake up sweating. As someone who is perpetually cold, this blanket is a dream. I have it at ten when I'm awake and I love how warm it keeps me.
